Summary
STCW Basic Safety Training meets the basic training requirements for all personnel intending to go to sea on merchant and/or fishing vessels.
The package includes Elementary First Aid, Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities.
The training complies with regulation VI/1, paragraph 1 and section A-VI/1, paragraph 2.1 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.
Objectives
Delegates completing an STCW Basic Safety Training course package will be able to;
- Go to sea on merchant and fishing vessels
Target Audience
Seafarers requiring basic training before going to sea.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for an STCW Basic Safety Training course package.
Award
MCA-approved STCW certificates will be issued for each element upon successful completion of an STCW Basic Safety Training course package.
Revalidation
The certificates must be revalidated every 5 years.
Delegates should bring
- Government issued photographic ID e.g. Driver's Licence or Passport
- Swimwear and a towel
- A change of clothing
