Summary

The GMDSS General Operator's Certificate (GOC) training course ensures delegates are competent in the use of VHF/HF/MF, radiotelephony, telex, and satellite procedures and equipment used commercially in the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

PLEASE NOTE THIS COURSE RUNS FOR 9 DAYS, WEEKDAYS ONLY. IT WILL NOT RUN OVER THE WEEKEND.

Objectives

Delegates completing a GMDSS General Operator's Certificate (GOC) training course will be able to;

  • Operate and identify GMDSS equipment
  • Understand VHF/HF/MF, satellite, radiotelephony and telex procedures
  • Understand operational procedures of GMDSS
  • Explain detailed practical operation of all sub-systems and equipment

Target Audience

Personnel operating on vessels and/or installations which are required to be fitted with GMDSS equipment.

Prerequisites

In order to complete a GMDSS General Operator's Certificate (GOC) training course, delegates must be 18 years of age or over. Course notes will be sent to delegates on application.

Award

A GOC license will be issued be AMERC on behalf of the MCA upon successful completion of a GMDSS General Operator's Certificate (GOC) training course.

Revalidation

There is no expiry for this course.

Delegates should bring

  • Government issued photographic ID e.g. Driver's Licence or Passport
  • 2 x passport compliant photographs
