Summary

The OGUK Medical Assessment of Fitness for Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) In-Water Training is required, in addition to the standard OGUK medical examination; in order for personnel to take part in the additional in water CA-EBS exercises included within the OPITO approved BOSIET/FOET/HUET with CA-EBS.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS APPOINTMENT IS FOR A STAND ALONE APPOINTMENT - IF YOU REQUIRE A FIT TO TRAIN ASSESSMENT TO BE CARRIED OUT WHILE ON COURSE PLEASE CONTACT THE BOOKINGS TEAM.

Objectives

The medical examination will consist of the following:

  • Completion of delegate CA-EBS fitness questionnaire
  • Consultation with an OGUK trained and registered doctor

Subject to the outcome of the consolation, further checks may be required. For example:

  • Physical examination
  • Spirometry (an additional charge will apply for this test)

Target Audience

Personnel attending OPITO approved survival training including CA-EBS; this includes the BOSIET, FOET & HUET courses.

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites for this medical examination.

Award

A medical certificate of fitness to undertake in-water training with a compressed air breathing system will be issued on successful completion of the medical assessment.
A certificate confirming personnel as unfit to take part in the in-water CA-EBS training will be issued if a candidate is unable to pass the assessment on medical grounds)

Revalidation

There is no re-validation period for the assessment.

We would however recommend that if there is any significant changes to the delegates health between completing the assessment and attending any OPITO approved survival training (BOSIET/FOET/HUET)that an OGUK doctor is consulted as it may result in the delegate being unable to complete the training in full and not being certified.
