Summary

The course will: Equip delegates who have a responsibility for the health and safety of others, with the knowledge and tools to investigate and report accidents and incidents that occur at work. The course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

Objectives

By the end of the training programme delegates will be:

  • Familiar with the relevant regulations and the reporting requirements of those regulations.
  • Aware of the correct methods of investigating an accident/incident thoroughly and effectively.
  • Able to gather evidence and interpret findings logically and methodically.
  • Aware of the need for efficient evidence collection and the correct methods of storing and protecting evidence.
  • Capable of completing samples of relevant documentation.
  • Able to interview and take statements from witnesses.
  • Familiar with the basic causes of accidents and incidents.

Target Audience

All personnel who have a responsibility for health and safety in their organisation and may be required to investigate accidents and incidents and to report them.

Prerequisites

None

Award

An In-house training provider certificate will be awarded on successful completion of this training programme.

Revalidation

There are no revalidation requirements, but refresher training is recommended every 2 years.

  • Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
  • £1.00 coin for locker
