Summary

The course will: train delegates in the safe use of substances hazardous to health and in how to comply with the relevant regulations. The course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

Objectives

By the end of this training programme delegates will:

  • Be aware of the requirements of the COSHH regulations.
  • Be aware of the duties of employer and employee under the regulations.
  • Be able to identify substance hazardous to health.
  • Be aware of how and where to find information pertaining to substances hazardous to health.
  • Be aware of the risks and potential injuries and ill-effects from substances hazardous to health.
  • Be able to interpret information from a material safety data sheet.
  • Be familiar with control measures required to reduce the risk of injury and damage.

Target Audience

All personnel who are involved in handling, using and storing substances hazardous to health, and those who have responsibility for such work.

Not applicable.

Award

An In-house training provider certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course

Revalidation

There is no revalidation period for this training programme but refresher training is recommended every 2 years.

Delegates should bring

  • Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
  • £1.00 coin for locker
  • Safety Glasses or Goggles if prescribed
