Summary
During this training programme the delegates will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond appropriately in the event of a helicopter ditching offshore. The course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of key areas within this training course.
Objectives
By the end of this training programme the delegate will:
- Understand the key principles behind the use of the emergency breathing system (EBS) and be able to use one with confidence in a water environment.
- Understand the actions to take during a surface evacuation into an aviation raft.
- Be competent in their ability to escape from a ditched helicopter in a submerged emergency situation using the emergency breathing system (EBS).
- Be able to board an aviation raft successfully from an in- water situation
Target Audience
All personnel who are required to work in or may be transferred by a helicopter over water but are not required to hold a BOSIET or FOET certificate
Prerequisites
Due to certain aspects of the course being physically demanding and potentially stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement
Award
An OPITO approved certificate will be issued upon successful course completion
Revalidation
The OPITO HUET with EBS certificate is valid for a 4 year period.
Delegates should bring
- Government issued photographic ID e.g. Driver's Licence or Passport
- Swimwear and a towel
- Old trainers (which should be clean)
- Extra pair of socks
