Summary

The course will: train delegates in the correct method to use, fit new wheels to grinding machines as required by the relevant regulations and in the safety considerations to be taken into account when working with grinding machines.

Objectives

By the end of this training programme delegates will:

  • Be familiar with the regulations pertaining to working with abrasive wheels.
  • Be aware of the classifications of abrasive wheels and characteristics.
  • Be familiar with the marking, testing and storage of abrasive wheels.
  • Be familiar with, and able to assemble, all component parts of a grinding machine, including guards.
  • Be able to true and dress a grinding wheel.
  • Be aware of the required PPE and safety considerations, and of potential injuries/damage from abrasive wheels.

Target Audience

All personnel who use grinding machines or change the wheels on them, and personnel who have responsibility for those that perform such tasks.

Prerequisites

Not applicable.

Award

An In-house training provider certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.

Revalidation

There is no revalidation period for this training programme but refresher training is recommended every 2 years.

Delegates should bring

  • Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
  • £1.00 coin for locker
  • Safety Glasses or Goggles if prescribed
